After a busy month concocting brand new flavour ideas , each of our Shops wrapped up those they thought were worthy of the New Year, New Flavour 2013 crown and sent them to Fudge HQ. This prestigious title is much sought after and our fudge teams up and down the land produce tens of different flavour batches throughout January in an effort to find that perfect recipe . Previous winners such as Windsor’s Eton Mess are now forever adorned and enjoyed by fudge fans everywhere, becoming a permanent part of both our in shop and Online range.
Our Head Office team then sat down to ‘judge the fudge’ – armed with strong tea, sweet tooths and a complex marking sheet. The fudge is ranked on several different attributes such as its flavour, texture , universal appeal and practiblity to make. It’s a tough job , but someone’s got to do it!
One of our favourite entries was Bath’s Sticky Toffee Pudding :
Made with mixed spices, juicy plump raisins and handmade gooey toffee – it was pure pudding pleasure!
In the spirit of all things devilishly different, our Oxford team had a go at a weird but wonderful American pairing : Maple and Bacon:
Due to its lack of universal appeal to our Veggie friends, this wacky gourmet entry was not in contention for the top spot despite its creative flair !
Onto the Winner ! A miriad of all things that are good in the World of fudge : Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, White Chocolate, Toffee & Coffee.. all creamed together to make this all American flavour that is a mouth-wateringly delicious. Made by Fudge Kitchen Cambridge – our team of ravers and general misbehaviours – this chocolatey fudge really was a taste sensation to behold.
